Description

ABC cable, or Aerial Bunched Cable is an assembly of aluminium phase conductors, neutral messenger wire. The aluminium conductors are insulated and the messenger wire is bare. For street lighting, a street lighting conductor is also included. The wires are twisted for ensuring maximum contact points, minimal interference and noise and provide easy installation.

The whole assembly is wrapped within an insulated coating to secure the wire from environmental factors, reduce risk of accidents, safeguard birds and animals, and prevent overvoltage. Cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) or polyethylene (PE) is used in insulation of phase conductors and overall insulation of the cable, though there is difference between material composition of both.
